Regulating Rod-Throttle Valve Lever

My SL has a hard downshift with clunk when rolling to a stop.  I'm in the process of removing the throttle body for service.  In my ignorance, I am unsure how to disconnect the regulating rod from the valve lever.  All else is disconnected and ready to send to SL Tech.  Could someone help me with this (I'm sure simple) procedure.
Reference BBB page 07-14/2 Figures 07-14/5 and 07-14/6.

Hi Tim,

The throttle valve lever has a small shaft on one end that is connected to the regulating rod. On the end of the shaft there is a round fitting that snaps into the rod end.  It is held in place by a small friction clip located inside the rod end. You can see a simialr fitting in figure 7-14/4 on the end of the adjusting lever.  The rod can be disconnected from the valve lever by gently prying it off.

Jeesh :oops: ,  I know you're thinking...this guy needs throttle body 101.  And of course you're right!  Thank so much for helping me, I'll package this up and hopefully be able to put things back together again without a hitch!

Why remove it?  Do you know that adjusting it typically fixes the problem you describe?

Yes, thanks.  My car runs on the rich side and get terrible gas mileage.  Gernold at SL Tech tells me there are some enhancements that they can perform on the throttle body especially to a 1971 280 SL to help these other areas as well as getting rid of the clunk.  It also sounds like the switch on the side of the throttle body may be at issue.  Once again, thanks to all for your help.
