FI Pump Thermostat

The replacement fuel injection pump thermostats have a larger brass base than the older thermostats with a rubber base.  The guide ring that the thermostat sits in has a 10mm hole and the new thermostats have a 13mm base.  My dealer diligently searched computer, classic center, and even microphiche but didn't find a part number listing for the guide ring.  (Unless it's called "Sealing Ring" and costs $60)

My inclination is to drill out the hole in the guide ring.  I have an old press drill, but no jig.  How precise does the hole have to be?  How easy is it to goof up?

Hello Ray,

I drilled mine out.

The hole doesn't have to be too much bigger than the black plastic of the new inj thermostat. After all it just needs to allow the thermostat to sit flat like the old one did.

The guide ring is soft metal.
