Fuel Additives: Upper Cyl Lube/Octane Boosters
« on: March 17, 2006, 08:24:36 »
There is a lot of discussion about which gas to use, along with fuel injection cleaners.  However,  there are also many additives to fuel they MAY benefit lubrication of the injector pump, valves and upper cylinders.  Quite honestly, I really don't follow articles about the latest and greatest additives.  30 years ago I used to add a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil to my gas at fill up.  When I owned a Mercedes turbo diesel, I would add some cheap transmission fluid to gas, as I was told the removal of sulfur required some additional protection.  I don't mind spending extra money on additives if they are worthwhile.  I only fill up about once a month so the added cost is minimal.   Inasmuch as experts chime in on every topic on this forum, I think it would be valuable information to know if there are good benefits favoring the use of additives.

Also, has anyone determined if octane boosters such as 104 Octane Plus, etc. would benefit Pagoda engines?

Thanks for your time!

J.P. - in earlier discussions, most of the time we came to the conclusion that there was no additive known to make a significant improvement.
