talc (talcum powder) removal

Talc is used to lube rubber gaskets or seals. The new seals on my soft top have way to much talc on them. When I close the doors with the windows up, it looks like a snow storm inside the car. Anyone have suggetions as to what to use to remove this excess on the seals. I tried dry brushing and soap & water. The talc just seems to keep multiplying!

Can you pull it off with masking tape?  That should not leave behind any sticky residue.

I just replaced seals between w'shield posts & front edges of side windows using MBz parts. The gummy white stuff covering the rubber was a PIA to remove & I'm guessing this is the same as your problem. Soap/detergent didn't budge it but mineral spirits removed it immediately. Try it on a small area of yours & see.   -JP-

I have never heard of white powder look on factory Mercedes benz seals. I have some new seals and they are not white looking. Try some 303 rubber protectant availible at most  RV stores and camping stores. If you have after market seals I have seen this problem, no mater what  you do the seal returns with a white powdered look.

I just replaced the seal on one of the windows on the hard top (a real hemroid for sure) I did use Mercedes seals and there has white residue on it. I will wait until i do the otherside and the rear to try removing this material.
