That's the same silver on my also tricked out 220SL-diesel
Maybe we are of the same mould, but I'm not going that far.
Looks like the only theing that's retained from the original dash is the speedometer which has been mounted squarely in the middle of the dash.
Who would have plated the bumpers and chrome with a Anthracite black color
Not my taste.
I shiver to think of what else is inside the Boss Audio bigwigs garage.

Not too sure of the need for lcd's in the seat backs when the sppedster humps are right up against the seat??  I do imagine the 3 screens in the trunk are useful if you get carjacked and stuffed in the trunk when doing a drug drop in the south bronx.

It is a sign of the times. The youth of this day and age are filled with electronic gagetry and hip hopp stereo music the you can hear as they thump a long in traffic. I have always encoraged young people whom I meet at a car events to go to a concours and walk around and pay attention to the detail and the judges and what they look for.
It is sad to me to see automobiles destroyed. I am very unhappy about my fathers modification and treatment of his 280SL when I got it. It took me a lot of time to make it resemple the car it use to be and much more work is needed.
Artifacts of our time need not be distroyed but preserved. My generation has goen the route of the 1960 to 1970s musual cars instead of the coper cars of the 1920. I guess the question remains what will our sons and dauthers generation choose to be there favorite cars of our time and will they remain true to the way they are restored.
Another though to mull over is will our state legeslators allow the hobby of restoring vintage and classic cars to continue in the future. I hope so what a more grand way to touch the heritage the ties us with our parents and grand parents.

Well, the modification of this car just makes the "correct" versions more rare and perhaps more valuable.  Besides, always being "correct" with the cars generates a lot of sameness.  

I have seen some rust heaps that would be a lot better off looking like this than how they stand now.  I don't really like the overall effect, but hey, his name is on the title and he deserves credit for doing a quality job on his dream.  Maybe he should ge a license plate that says "2 FAR".

I almost like the wheels with that color.

Remember that there was once an optional plug-in external speaker available from Becker so that one could listen to the radio while enjoying a nice picnic in the country?  Well, this person has simply updated the concept:  Now it is possible to go out and enjoy a nice picnic in the country in your Pagoda and watch the game, too!

Three comments on this one.

1. Can't be true. It's certainly a computerized/animated artefact. Although the people in the backgroud look too realistic. :(

2. The comments below the pics say it all: Nobody (really) likes this conversion.

3. If it truely was an unmolested rust-free example, a full restoration is perhaps worth the effort if the drive train is still original (I doubt)and a parts-car is available. :(

Obviously good taste in automotive design. Obviously high quality customization & audio gear. Wasn't it obvious that they don't work in harmony?? Absolutely painful.

He removed it to put in the hydraulics and batteries for all the "enhancements"

I am completely baffled by the way people spend money!  It is right there with the drag car in the puzzlement category.  Probably took a very large write-off for the advertising value!!
