1967 SL resto info needed
« on: April 20, 2006, 13:56:50 »
Hey all,

I'm based in the Midlands in the UK, near Warwick and am trying to get some facts and figures on the car i'm restoring, a 1967 Pagoda 230 manual.

Im having to move the engine which is currently out of the car. Does anyone know how much it weighs in kg's? It doesn't have the transmission attached but the flywheel is still there.

Also, on the small off-chance that people from the UK read this - does anyone know of a company that could collect and move the engine for me?

Thanks in advance,

Owen

Rodd, Owen,
I checked the technical data book, owners manuel and my haynes manuel and I did not find any weights for the motor.
I will e-mail metric motors and ask them.

The only thing I found was that the Haynes manual said that unless you have a heavy duty hoist you should remove the engine without the transmission as these are heavy engines.  You might want to contact T & D Heaney at http://www.pagoda.info/  in Ireland they seem to be very good with these cars based on their website.  I'm sure there are good shops in the UK as well.

Owen,
below is the response from metric motors.

The longblock assembly we supply is right about 380 lbs.
When you add the externals (manifolds, fuel injection, starter, engine management etc.) it totals more like 550 lbs.
