PAGODA PROJECT - a fan site about a restoration
« on: January 15, 2006, 06:16:41 »
I have just finished the english version of my small web site describing my PAGODA PROJECT.
You can find some photos from the restoration and a brief history of my car from the point when I acquired it.

The web is at:
http://www.pagoda.un.cz/project-en.htm

I will try to keep the info updated as the project will continue. I ask anybody who wishes to express their feelings to do so in a forum at my site.

The site is both in English and in Czech (if there is any fellow Czech or Slovak in this board - which I doubt  :(  )

Hi Muf,

Excellent page and very interesting story about your Pagoda. Keep on posting the progress and pictures on your page - I am especially eager to hear more and see the final result, as we also bought our 230 SL 1964 Euro 4-speed manual in the US and got it nut and bolt restored after arrival. Our car was partly restored several years ago in the US, but had severe internal rot especially in the sills, apparently because the former owner forgot to paint it thoroughly/rust proof it inside the sills after restoration. Lessons are learned and all cavities have been sprayed with anti-rust vax to prevent rusting - as far as it’s possible  :x

Our car was originally white, but we decided to paint it silver metallic as we prefer this colour. After comparing the Silver grey metallic 'original' for the Pagoda with a more recent MB silver colour called Brilliant silver metallic, we opted for the latter as it - in our view - looks better especially when it’s overcast and no sun. My view is to choose the colour you like as long as you choose from MB colours, but I'm very well aware that others do not agree to this [:0]

Please comment, especially critical comments are welcome :-)

Muf...

great work, your site! I had not seen it before but just spent a little time reading all of it. Good luck with your Pagoda. Since you are also clearly not afraid of a little drive, come and join us for the European Pagoda event... http://www.sl113.org/eurevent.asp

You don't have to but it be great if you could make it! ;)

Hi Muf,

GREAT SITE!  I really appreciate all the detailed photos of your project and I will check back often.  The only thing is that the "Forum" link didn't work for me, I got some sort of java script error.

Tell us how you created the website and what software you used.  Maybe others would want to create their own sites.

I do not know what problem it could be, for me the forum works fine. I have a link on every page on top and also on some of the pages in the bottom. It points to http://www.pagoda.un.cz/forum/viewforum.php?f=2
I am creating the site in Dreamweaver, you can use anything similar, I'd for example recommend NVU (http://www.nvu.com/) which is free.
The forum is also free and you can get it at www.phpbb.com
