can you use 5 prong mixture relay instead of 4?
« on: September 10, 2006, 10:52:54 »
so, still working to get the car back on the road, started cleaning contacts for relays and found that my car has the 5 prong mixture relay instead of the 4 prong.

will this work or should I get the 4 prong?

I have 0 332 515 003 5 prong and a spare 000 542 61 19 4 prong.

maybe I should just order the 4 prong from cheryl at K&K just in case?

Hi Matt,

I assume you are talking about a standard Bosch relay.  The following
site offers a great explanation for how they work.  I think as long as your 5 pin relay is connected properly using the universal pin numbering plan 85, 86, 30, 87 & 87a it should work fine.  I think the four pin relays are missing pin 87a.
