OK, I just have to comment on this, one of my favorite movies of all time.
One of the interesting themes in this "coming of age" movie is the European connection with the main characters. All of the Cutters have mixed European heritage which, along with their blue-collar worker status, is the source of serious prejudice. But the anti-hero (the rich "anglo" college kids) show their affinity for European culture with the Pagoda, while the Cutter kids show their with an affinity for Italian "passion" play with language and music. If only they had an old Alfa.
Now, I am not suggesting anything about Germany/Italy...
But it is a great movie, just the same,
Best,
