ANSA sports muffler
« on: January 28, 2007, 04:07:11 »
I have been trying for while to figure out where to buy an ANSA sports rear muffler for our Pagoda, but so far without much luck. We would like a louder and more mature note and believe an ANSA sports muffler is the answer. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks a lot

I cannot speak to an Ansa system, I installed a Borla high flow stainless steel system on my 280sl and it is plenty loud and "mature"  If exhaust note is your thing, the Borla should do the trick. :)

I can't speak to the sound, but my understanding is that an Ansa or Bosal system has a thinner gauge of metal compared to Eberspacher, so it doesn't last as long.

My 280 SL had an ANSA rear muffler when I bought the car 8 years ago. I have a friend with the stock system on his 280 SL.  The ANSA exhaust is certainly raspier, especially when you are on the accelerator.  It makes for great noises when you are cruising with the top down.  For a little fun, it is great to punch it when going under an overpass and hear the reverberations. The stock system is quite civilizee in comparison.  I don't thing the ANSA system is excessively loud but certainly is sporty.  Which is also appropriate as I compare it to the sound of my '63 220SE's exhaust note.  I live in a relativey humid climate.  I usually drive the car once every two to three weeks and usually drive 5 to 10 miles between stops and starts.  I haven't had any problem with muffler rust through during my ownership, and, as I said previously, it wasn't a new muffler when I bought the car.  I hope this helps.

I've had a full ANSA exhaust on my 1966 MGB GT since 1981.  Unleaded fuel (and avoiding "sleeping policemen") doubtless contributed to its longevity.  ANSA has not supplied a system for the MGB for quite some time and I understand has dropped systems for some other cars as well.  Do they make a system for 113s still?
