yesterday noticed a puddle of auto tranny fluid under my 66 230sl.
jacked up the car, started the motor and saw a trail of fuild running down the side of the tranny where the cooler return line bolts into the side of the drivers side of the tranny.
after wiping the fuild off a few times the run returned and it sure seemed to come from where the cooler return line bolted into the tranny or where the metal line goes into the fitting for the banjo bolt.
I was able to get a box wrench on the bolt and gave it a tug, it did turn a little. the leak did seem to slow a little after tightening the bolt. the leak is not gone.
so, here is the question, should I get some new metal washers and try to change them ?
Is this even possibe with the tranny in the car? there is not much room.
I have thought of cutting an access hole in the drivers side of the tranny tunnel similar to the passenger side. at least then I could have access to the bolt.
thoughts?
