so, after a few days of messing with my 20 plus year old analog dwell meters and trying to get the stupid meter zeroed out I decided to buy a new meter.  did a search on the web and found the tool listed below.

not only does it provide clear led readouts for dewll, rpm etc, it also doubles as at multimeter if needed.  my old one did not.

now I can set the dewll with real accuracy. set it today at 39.3 degrees.

That is the meter that I bought when I wanted to check the accuracy of my mechanical tachometer. My 25 year old Snap-On meter wouldn't give readings that made any sense, so that was the meter I chose to replace it, It provably wouldn't hold up for daily shop use, but I don't do that any more. and it has been handy for other household electrical projects.

you are proably correct, it may not hold up to a busy shop, however for $53 it is much cheaper than the Snap on tools that are $300 plus!!

I can buy 6 before I buy one snap on unit
