how to remove double acting slenoid tranny

turns out the double acting selenoid on the tranny for my 66 230 sl is not working.
I did all the trouble shooting and was in contact with the tranny rebuilder and now I need to remove it.

is it possible to remove the without removing the tranny?
I have the tranny access tunnel open and have removed the closest bolt, but the bolt on the drivers side is hard to get to.

thoughts?

well, we (my wife and I ) were able to get to the drivers side bolt.

we ended up with her on the in side helping guide an 11 mm socket and I was in the engine compartment with a thumbwheel ratchet, 3 feet in extensions , universal joint then socket.

she held the socket on while I turmed the thumbscrew ratchet. it eventually came off.

still sucked, took us 2 hours to figure out how to get it off.

tested it , it did not work, called the tranny rebuilder and they will send me a replacement for free.

well, new selenoid showed up today, it took 2 of us to install the drivers side bolt.  one on the inside and me in the engine bay reaching in.

still a lousy job

new one tested and works!
