Caster/camber lubrication
« on: September 01, 2007, 09:35:39 »
How does the eccentric bolt(camber) that goes thru the threaded pin(caster) get lubrication?  This bolt get rusted solid into the threaded pin!  Can I drill a 1/32" or so hole in the grease groove in the  threaded pin to get grease on to the bolt?   Is this a 'gift' to the next owner?

Well, this is a weakness in this M-B front suspension design, which incidentally dates back well into the fifties...
The eccentric camber pin indeed does not get any lubrication once assembled. As you refurbish this area of your car, apply copper paste
to prevent the pin from becoming siezed with time.

In principle you can, yes, but there would not be a natural "flow" of grease through the area when you grease your suspension,
so I do not think a hole in that part would remedy the problem.
