FRESH AIR FLAP

I have purchased a new rubber seal for the fresh air flap but it looks like it could be installed a couple of different ways.

Anyone have any information on correct application before I glue this on wrong.

I have also either loss or misplaced the brackets that attach the air flap to the car body. Have checked a couple of parts sites and do not see these for sale.

the gasket will go on more than one way but on the front part you want the gasket on top of the flap.

as far as the brackets you might try k&k mfg,  sls or call the classic center.

I have learned to take more and better notes and a lot more pictures.

The flap will not close when the gasket is incorrectly installed.  Dry fit 1st to check.  I think when I last took mine apart, it was not necessary to glue it on.  It is amazing all the crud you will find that makes its way in there.  There is a guy on Ebay out of Madison, Wisc. that sells some used 113 parts.  You can reach him at eurocars@itis.com

Mike, the brackets can be made of simple sheetmetal.  Look at the antenna mount brackets or those from a radio(hols the back of the radio stable)  It's pretty much straightforward.  But if you are missing the small plastic (either black or white) orange juicer type washers than it's to the parts source.
The rubber seal has two lips,  the front should have the lip on top and the rear on the bottom as the flap moves clockwise from the drivers side fender.  This is the open.  When turned clounter clockwise the lips rest on the metal surrounding to close it.
