Barrett-Jackson sold listing
« on: October 18, 2008, 16:22:48 »
I see two fairly good Pagoda examples sold at the Vegas B-J auction yesterday/today.

A 280 and a 250.

Both brought around $30,000. each.

I personally expected more.

Judging from the photos of the 280 SL it was unrestored and had some very obvious problems with incorrect/non original parts, not an exceptional car by any standard when looking at the photos which may likely indicate it was even worse when examined in person up close. Could not tell very much from the 250 SL photos.

The 280 sold for a higher price then the 250 which generally seems to be the case when you look at selling prices of the earlier vs later models.

Agreed.

I went to a B-J auction last year and got a good look at the cars. In general most of the line up were just drivers with maybe 25% of the cars being truly show worthy.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

The thing that struck me the most was the lack of knowledge from some of the buyers. I witnessed a guy buy a random car and overheard him say "...you know anything about these cars? I have no idea what I just bought..." to the gent standing next to him.
