My Lord, this car is like new. what a bargin it looks like the day it came off the assembly line. the color comination is just right DB 180 and blue interior.  what a niice car.

It's nice. Shame about the amount of gloss paint in the engine bay, and funny goings-on with the rocker cover breather/inlet manifold area. It's a little over presented in that area. But the rest of the car looks nice. Would have been interesting to see shots of the boot floor and the car on a lift.

I agree it looks like a nice one for the price (depending on amount of rust). The only things I'd want to confirm are the mileage claims, the condition of the suspension, and the original color of the car. I think it may have started as white.

You would think those visors would have been done in the same material as the interior, they did the steering wheel center cap why leave those so obviously out of character with the car.

Hmmm. There is something a little fishy about this car. How can a 40 year old car cover so few miles? Why is the sunvisor creased, Why are the screws on the speedo damaged from being undone? Why is the trunk catch so tired looking? The engine somehow looks suspicious, too much WD40?. The tires are covered in tire dressing or WD40! The pedals are too clean. they would be worn more if they were 40 years old regardless of miles. The rear lenses look tired. the wooden box looks a bit worn out as does the drivers seat. The hoses and tires would not have needed to have been changed on a 60000 mile car. The screen rubber from inside looks tired and I suspect there has been a respray. Look at the inner wing and around the door handle close up. A car like this would look like Ed Caves beauty and have been presented in a more stylish fashion, and would attract a higher starting bid than 30K!

I agree, it's a nice car and one I'd be proud to own but I think the claims are a bit rich. Buyer beware, eh?

It's funny, I saw an ad for a respected UK 'Pagoda passion ' garage advertising "one of the very best around". I went to see it and it was just another tired old ride dressed to look loved. The problem with these speedos is that they dont show the hundreds of thousands of miles so everyone claims that these cars have done less than a hundred thousand miles. Theres nothing wrong with a car having done 160 000 miles so why do advertisers expect us to believe that "its only done 60 000 miles?"

The carpet on the back of the seats looks like the original square weave, the new one on the floor has a different color and weave. And those red hoses in the engine bay made me cringe.

After requesting additional pictures of the under chassie andtrunk floor I got very little except side views with the car on the ground and a very bad picture of the left side of the trunk floor. Prehaps this wasn't such a deal after all.

I am not up to speed on all the minutae of the Euro models but I would guess that this is an imported car which was converted to an MPH speedometer. In other words 60k since it was imported.

This is the same seller as the black-on-black 230 SL "museum piece" a couple months ago. Remember that one? I didn't see any positive feedback from the buyer after that transaction....

It is impossible to estimate the quality of this car based on these images. Admitted, it looks nice, however you should get the outer rocker panels off. Also use a srewdriver and poke around under the car and in the wheelwells. Remove the headlights and al the carpets. There may be a lot to discover...

Does anyone out there have a car with the combo of silver exterior and blue interior that was original to the car?  I thought most silver cars were red or black interior?
There are incorrect things about the paint job, of course, but the engine bay is most telling that this car dealer doesn't have much respect for the cars - it looks shiny and all greased up to stick it to ya.

I am totally impressed by your observations on the car (damage to the screws of the speedo etc) - a few months back I have been looking desperately for a car like that at this price and probably would have bought it sight unseen.

I found my Pagoda finally locally, it looked beautiful (not like the car on e-bay, but a good 3+ and I got a good price. Despite the look, next to no rust, no previous accidents and only 70k miles, I spend 8 weeks in the shop and almost $20k.

Thus I agree with buyers beware of this one, even though it looks great, there might be many many thousand dollars needed to remove the bugs ...

This car might be a nice find, but as many have noted it has more than a few yellow flags.  The respray looks good, but definately not the original color, I think James is right in guessing it was ivory/white.  Looks like the original (with a heavy coat or Armorall, I am afraid) firewall pad.  But the headlight creases look to be fabricated in the body shop, if I am not mistaken.  And the car has been hit in the rear, as evidenced by the trunk seam problem.

Still, all-in-all, this could be a respectable driver with value in the mid-$20's?

I dont have a problem with this car per se, what I do have a problem with is vendors making claims that things are what they aren't. Its fine to have done 160000 miles and have the wear associated with it, just dont try to pull the wool over my eyes, I'm a grown up and know what a 60000 mile car looks like.

I'm sure that whoever ends up with this car will have a great car for 30k, it's just not a museum piece.

I've always been hesistant to use the word "perfect" while describing something I'm selling on ebay.  Occasionally a specific component on a car can be "perfect" and described as such but an entire car?  When the verbiage and the pictures don't match, that's strike one.  As to Chad's question earlier, I did have an original DB180 car with blue Tex a few months ago, they are out there.

This car does look nice( Looks like Kirkland,WA) and I must admit that although I have a 67' 230SL I have never studied the particulars of the original, some things do appear incorrect:

1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think MBZ shipped 4-speed cars to the USA in 1967.
2. My car has a solenoid on the linkage for idle speed control, not a dashpot. Perhaps correct on stick shift?
3. Is that a vacuum advance distributor?
4. Where is that valvecover vent pipe going? Should'nt it be routed to the intake manifold?
