Hello PagodaMen,
I am bringing my car back on line after a one year time out and decided to perform a small job I had deferred a number of times in the past.
I took the the first photo for transmission documentation purposes when I got the car in 2004. At that time I realized something was not kosher about the transmission pan installation.
I was chagrined, but not surprized to find an RTV non-gasket. Scotch-Brite pads are very effective after the scraper has done all it can.
As might be expected after years of over-tightening the pan bolts the holes were severely dimpled. I had to brass hammer the dimpling out to restore a flat surface.
All is well now - - that is untill I discover the next "area of expertise" where some other so-called mechanic has left his mark.
