More Manual Labour
« on: October 24, 2007, 03:21:51 »
Dear all,

a small number of people have contributed lots to the manual. Special thanks go to:

  • Klaus Drexl, who has done major work on the DataCard section. Especially the colour codes and option codes sheets are a great source of information and complete with pictures. Have a look and find information you cannot find elsewhere!

  • Naj has done a lot of work on the Distributor and related sections.

  • Jeff Clute has worked on the manual transmission section.

  • Hands_Aus has worked on a Fuel Pump Rebuild section.
However, it is only a small, but encouraging beginning to a major work. We need more people to contribute, to help, to edit. Remember, it is for all our benefit. So if you have some time, and some expertise, please help us.

Read this topic index.php?topic=1751]Joining the Manual[/url] and this News for Editors, and join in.

Your Pagoda Group needs your help and participation!

.......and, please, help finishing the Data Card section by adding your own photos (paint codes, upholstery codes, option codes) wherever you see a need!

any additional data, comments or contributions on the ignition system would also help fill many gaps.

I'd like to volunteer as soon as I figure out what I'm good at!

Regarding colour code samples, is there any objection to uploading colour code samples from multiple views? (or even multiple cars with the correct paint).  A single picture can be too subjective at times...

I'll second that !
I seem to have plenty of time at the moment, however not much expertise, as yet !

I will keep checking as I would love to have an input somewhere in there !(' :) ')

In many cases it would be good to have more photos, under different lighting conditions, or of the entire vehicle instead of only a part; the best photos seem to be those shot from above, like from a ladder or from a window. We would then probably still select maybe the best two of them for permanent display, since otherwise the Manual gets too large and gets into competition with our "Photos" section in the forum.

Really nice work. It's elegantly designed and full of extremely valuable information.

Klaus, I agree, too many pictures would make the manual unwieldy... As a result I suggest people mail you photographs of their car in different (lighting) conditions, with the paint code number, and you choose.

Perhaps we should also add a disclaimer in the manual:

Light during photography, the camera used, the post-processing of the photograph, the screen used to view it on all have a very significant effect on the way colours are displayed and perceived. Real-life results will always vary!
