Brake Booster Inspection Stamping
« on: November 29, 2007, 15:47:14 »
I am wondering what is the stamping by Ate on the brake booster?  It is with white paint and is done at manufacture on the outside front of booster drum.  It is an inspection certification I think.  Anyway, mine is half rubbed off.  It is my understanding that the stamp is different from the 250SL to the 280SL brake boosters.  Seems to be a date (5-1/69), and not totally sure of the correct wording above the date.  Anyone have an original with stamp still showing?  What does it say?

I want to paint the booster drum but want to replace the stampings.

Do you mean the little powder blue rectangular sticker with white type? I think Bob Geco has recreated that one. I believe he's BobG here in the forums.

Hello,

I just replaced one on a 250SL. I believe it was a T51. I got a good used one off a 230 Mercedes finback sedan(same vintage).

Thanks Douglas and Joe, but I/m not looking to replace the T51 brake booster, only want to know if anyone has the originial booster in its originial paint with the originial inspection stamping printed in white paint on their booster.  This stamp is printed at ATE when booster was produced.  It's a "quality control" stamp with date inspected.  Whay to paint mime and replace stamping for originality.  I have the ATE sticker, this is not the inspection stamp.
Thanks
