"NOS"parts
« on: March 30, 2008, 09:08:03 »
It seems that more and more ebay vendors are selling "NOS" parts these days. However, in many instances, when you look closely at the photos, the parts appear used, rusted, and damaged. Other parts are clearly reproduction parts. "NOS", or New Old Stock parts, are old ORIGINAL parts, made by the ORIGINAL manufacturer, that have NEVER been used. Many times, these parts are still in their original boxes or wrappers. I would caution members to stay away from ebay vendors who have the slightest wiff of negative feedback. I am starting to wonder if these vendors really know what "NOS" means, or if they are intentionally trying to screw the public. It seems like many of our club members are having the same issues with dishonest vendors.

I think we need some new terms.  How about COFS; cr**py old fake stock, or FANS; fake almost new stock.

How about FNOS (Formerly New Old Stock)? This is inspired by those ads that use one of my all-time favorite boasts—"former show car."
