It's a useful video for sure. I think the top was made of fiberglass for the demo .(1.06 mins ) Also the tyres look quite tall. It's shows the slimming effect of the grey/black rocker covers well too.

Near the end when the pagoda is passing, it looks like he downshifted for a little extra power.  The tach jumps waaayyy up past red line.

Very cool video.

My goodness, did you check out the nose diving in the straight line braking?  How about the body roll in those high speed corners?

Suzy, the soft-top demo had several breaks in it; this is the part where many of us struggle a bit with latching it down.  Clearly they have been edited out.

I have not seen the previous posts about this video. Sorry if this has been mentioned before. The English version was broadcased on the History Channel in the early ninties. The whole program was about Mrecedes SLs and included the pagoda. The silver haired gentleman driving the the pagoda at the Ring and demonstrating the ease of operation for the hard top and the soft top is no other than Karl Kling the Mercedes racing driver of the fifties who won the Carrera Panamerica in a 300SL in 1952 and later became the head of motorsports in the early 60's. In the original video the soft top operates up and down very smoothly and there are no lapses in the video.
