heater drains in vent cowl
« on: August 11, 2008, 21:01:51 »
how do you clean these and make sure they are open-?I can see the rubber hose  from here under the dash. Does it just drain to a hole under the car?  I can see one on the passenger side while I'm replacing my vent rubber and cowl vent filter.  Are there one or two?

There are two. Good way to clean drain tubes is a run through with a piano wire, then a small bottle brush. The tubes exit in the engine compartment on the lower firewall. There is a rubber ball on the left one. Replace this if old and cracked, but make sure it is there!

It's purpose is to keep petrol (gas) fumes from entering the vent system (and thus the driver/passenger)[:0]

On the right, there is no rubber ball as it would be rather rapidly fried, being so close to the exhaust downpipes

The right one is also curved towards the right fender.
