W113 power window

Hello all,

I wonder if anyone can help or advise me how to replace the manual window regulator into power windows?
I've seen a photo for a 280SL "70" with an electic powered window, it really looks nice and comfortable for a daily car use.
I had a discussion with a friend regarding the replacement and he told me that the W107, W111, W116 and W123 might fit but needs some modification in order to install it in a proper way.
Has anyone ever had theirs done or heard about it before?
which regulation fits exactly the W113 chasses ?

Abdul,

That's the Mechatronic SL (MSL 320), a thorough update and conversion with lots of modern parts (E 320 engine and transmission, stiffer suspension, brakes and seat padding, etc. etc.).
It's now a modern car looking classic.

As mentioned earlier, it's recommended to do the essentials on your new baby first and not the "nice to have".

JC Whitney sold a power window kit that was hooked up to existing handle so as not to loose the original look.  Not sure if it's still available or not.

Abdul,
      I have made several alterations to my car, including a revised suspension.  However I recommend that the power window modification not be done.  This kind of modification will really detract from the classic-ness of this and other older cars.  It will not be looked upon as an improvement to an existing sytem such an improved ignition sytem (btw 123 ignition is pretty good).  More like installing a modern stereo headunit....... it just doesn't feel right.  Lastly and imho it will most certainly adversely affect the value of your car.

I saw this feature at one of the Fashion Island shows and fell head over heels.  I think they used a 450SL door electric motor and the switches can be placed in the center console. The wiring was finished off so nicely, it looked factory.

My nephew wondered what the window lever was for whilst searching for the power window button. He's now seven.

Scary how the next generation will have zero exposure to manual window cranks, unless old cranks like us keep reminding everyone!

Yes, but your nephew has never seen a vinyl LP, VHS tape (let alone Betamax), 35mm film, a Sony Walkman with a cassette, monochrome TV or countless other things, including (for the older UK readers) white dog poo...

I hate to ask, but "white dog poo"??  I realize this is off topic, but why did British dogs formerly have "white poo"?

I have bought in these days a 250 Sl very original but with electric windows.
I think this is an old replacement because the last owner bought it 30 years ago with this "optional": he thought was original!
The rest of the car is very original, with 67K km on the clock and an old oil change sticker with 62K km in 1975.
I don't know if leave the electric windows or no: what do you think?
