headlight switch re-build/clean?
« on: August 14, 2008, 10:41:41 »
Is it possible/practical to make the existing headlight switch work better, or is it sealed shut in a manner that makes opening it up impractical?   My switch works fairly well, but often I have to try it a few times to get headlights...    I searched the forum but didn't find comments on this subject other than the technical manual which talks about how to remove/replace the switch, but not how to fix the switch.   Thanks, Scott

I have dismantled and cleaned out the contacts in one of these, it's not difficult. You need to slightly bend out the dimpled tabs at the base of the metal casing to remove the entire assembly.

During re-assembly, be careful when bending back the dimples so as not to damage the interior plastic part.
