W113 Repair shop in the NE?
« on: November 27, 2008, 03:34:21 »
I own a 68 250SL (or is it really a 67?) and have moved it from SF to London and now back to NY.
I had a great shop in SF - Pacific Motors on 10th Ave. And could dig up the name of the shop I used and liked in London if anyone wanted it.
But I am looking for a reco on a shop (mechanical) in the NE.  Southern CT or Boston area would be most convenient.
Car has been incredibly good to me (4 years, 2 continents and 15K miles) so it deserves a really nice treatment, nicer than I can give it myself in an unheated garage during a New England winter.
Thanks in advance.

May not be real convient to you, but I use Star Services in Topsfield, MA - about 20 miles north of Boston.  They specialize in classic Mercedes.

NE (New England) or NY?  I know a good shop in CT not too far from Bridgeport, but if you're in NY, that's different. Given the size of the state, knowing your zip would help. -CTH

Gernold at SLTech should be near the top of your list.  He is a specialist in the 113's.  http://www.sltechw113.com

Thank you everyone. I've just now spoken to Paul in Topsfield but the shop near Bridgeport would be more convenient. CTH - Can you provide a contact name and number? And can they do some minor body work as well?

For exceptional quality work you may want to try Andrew Bach. He is located in Westchester County and must be pushing 40 years of experience on these cars by now. He is quite the perfectionist. Email me offlist and I would be happy to provide you with his phone number.
