Thanks to forum, not and SL but a 250 SE
« on: November 02, 2008, 10:19:16 »
I purchased a 67 250 SE that had numerous PO issues, weird dwell setting, wrong static timing, mis threaded plugs, IP rack issues, fuel pump replaced with newer canister. Using searhes on this forum I have been able to transform the behavior of the car into a smooth clean driver, from a smoking jerky mess.

I just reached out to George D for a pump seal, and need a few other parts. I need to find the rubber connector from the air cleaner to the intake and misc body parts, ie the front turn signal lenses, trim rings, few trim pieces etc.

Thanks for the help.

D.Brisson

I hope to repaint in the spring.

Your car looks great! The sedans seldom receive the kind of care they deserve... thank YOU for keeping one of these cars alive and on the road.

Some parts are the same on 108's and 113's. I think I have more 108 parts than almost any other car along with 6 or 7 parts cars ranging from 250S to 300SEL 6.3

Thanks, the body is fairly straight (minor dent on headlight area) the paint just shows bad prior prep work, some mottling in the silver. I can do a better job.  I had to rebuild the lower inner rocker panel but a few welds later and it is solid. One more rear inner fender and spare tire patch weld and it will be complete.
I will call for parts but if anyone wants to email some prices here is what I am looking for in the near future:

2 good orange lenses (before I try and retint the turn signals)
The rubber connector from airfilter to intake manifold
Piece of wood for the ash tray
spare injectors
Visor clips (white prefer, but any color)
oil pan drain plug
grill chrome slats

optional
Passenger mirror
Good clean trim rings and or caps

I am sure there is more, just off the top of my head.

Congrats!
I love the 108/109's. Unfortunately my wife does not share the same sentiments. I wanted a 450SEL to swap in a modern MB V8 (5.5-6.2).

Well, I always loved the w111 280se coupes...and I think after carefuly looking at the 1600/2002 BMWs (late 60s, early70s) I am going to give up the idea of purchasing a BMW and buy a W111. You get soooo much more car for the $ with Mercedes.  Now its just matter of convincing the wife and with this economy/election its not going to be easy.  I just don't understand why such a beautiful car that was hand made don't keep their vallue.....hopefuly I am buying at the bottom (should have done that with my stocks).

I too own a W108 250SE Mercedes Sedan although mine is a 1966 model.

I actually have three of them, two I purchased as parts cars, one is a 1967 250SE and the other a 1968 280SE.

My main car is actually a manual, the others are all autos, the manual or stick shift, are a lot harder to find in this country.

Anyhow I have gone halves with a friend and we are using the car as a Sprint car for regularity events at our local race track, called Mallala here in South Australia.

We had our first meeting a few weeks ago and the car ran like a dream.
I have to say that I really like driving it as it’s the closest thing in feel to a Pagoda that you will find.

You can see some footage of our 250SE on YouTube here:

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=usYNbykTQGQ

The next steps are to lower the car (as it is riding very high even from standard), and play with shockers and sway bars.

We are not looking to make a racing car out of it. Just a nice car to enjoy on the track occasionally.

This car is very rust free and in overall pretty good condition.

I love my Pagoda, and with this car I can still have that feel when driving more friends around.

Yours looks good in the photo’s and if I was on the same continent as you I would be happy to let you have some parts that you are after. Let me know if you get desperate and maybe we can work something out.

All the best to you and your new project car!

Regards

Looks great on the interweb!  What about just shooting the hubcaps in silver, getting the major dings taken out, a good polish, and having a very nice 15-footer?
