rear axle swap

I have tried to get hold of a 108 4.5 se axle with the 3;27 ratio to put into my 280 Pagoda. So far I have only been able to track down the centre diff and casing without the two axle/half shafts attached .Does anyone know if the pagoda parts will mate up to this unit ? I know an axle swop would be easier but "beggers cant be choosers" Maybe I should ask "joe the plumber" Is he here ? Thanks Colin

Joe has one at my place. It's 3.27 from a 280SE 4.5

may be too late but 3.46 axles are easier to get hold of. I can steer you towards a couple complete in the UK from £150

According to MB EPC the 280 4.5 and the 280SL half axles are the same.

Hello Colin,
The left side axel tube casting is different where it meets the gear case. The V-8 gear case is larger. The right side axel tube casting should be the same. The axle shafts themselves are most likely the same.
