Gear Shift Lever Support Bushings
« on: November 28, 2008, 20:54:00 »
I am having trouble ordering 4 bushings number 111 992 01 10.  Two are for the gear shift lever support and two for the tail piece for the thrust rod on the manual transmission of 1 230sl.  I am told that number is no longer active and cannot find to proper number.  I have not had luck contacting the classic center.  Has anyone purchased these bushing before ?

111 992 0110 now superceded by 111 992 0210. These are for the support rods(upto chassis 042 014258). They are like a grommet, two flanges with a gap in the middle.
The tail part of the shifting tube uses 4x 198 268 0150. These look line a bush with a flat washer at one end.

According to my parts manual all four bushings were supposed to be the same.  Is this not true?

I ordered 111 992 0210 and they were a black bushing not the white ones originally there.  The difference was that the gear shift lever support is too thick to accomodate the 111 992 0210 replacement.  The same bushing is supposed to be used for the tail piece of the thrust rod. I am sorry I am confused.

The parts I need are 40 and 42.  I noticed that there are two types of linkage available.  Mine is for the early car with the straight stick shift.

Can you post a picture of this support?
I have one out of a 220SE and there is no way the same bushes would fit at both its ends.

The classic center has them but you will have to send a picture of the linkage part because the part # will not get you the right one.  It took me a few tries to get the right one for my 220Sb that has the early version.  I finally sent a photo and got the right parts.
