Tachometer Repair

The decorative center piece on the needle of Tachometer came unglued and fell to the bottom of the meter. I had to pry open the bezel with a screw driver to glue the center piece back on. I reinstalled the bezel by crimping it.

1.  Is there any easier way to crimp the bezel back on?  It took me a lot longer time and patience putting the bezel back on than taking it off.

2.  Will it help if I put a few drops of lubricant (like 3-in-1) into Tachometer opening?

I will appreciate your thoughts.
