Ballast resistor

My ignition ballast resistor is shot... disintegrated.  I noted that Miller's sells several of these, with different resistance values.

Anybody have any idea on how to determine what resistance is appropriate for my coil?

Well, what coil do you have? I use the 1.8 with the Bosch Red Coil.

As James said, you can use the Bosch red coil with a 1.8 ohm ballast resistor (the one with the red tab).

For the 230SL, the original setup was a black coil with a 0.9 ohm ballast resistor (gold tab).

By the way, the Bosch red coil is not actually red. It is silver with a nice red sticker on the can... ;)

Thanks Jaco,

When you say "red tab" are you referring to the mounting bracket on the resistor, or?

Yes, that would be the mounting tab on the ballast resistor.
