We are doing the experiment on a 190 SL, with soundproofing, but nothing very heavy, or with stuff that might ooze out or stain the fabric. This was reasonably simple to put into the 190 SL harddtop as it was down to bare metal for repair. I am not sure how effective or if it is even worth it. You need to consider how much you are really going to be using the hardtop.
I think the 113 hardtop is a bit more difficult to deal with, especially the side windows.
I don't drive my car in the winter (NE Ohio) but in the six years I have owned it, the only time the hardtop has been on the car, is when the previous owner delivered it to me. We put the top in the basement, on a carrier and that is where it still is.
