Tacky or not, Cocomats are very practical especially in wet or muddy areas.

Any loose sand or dirt on the shoe sole gets rubbed off by the surface of the Cocomat. When dry, the dirt works its way down to the top of the rubber layer lining the bottom of the Cocomat (Dirt does not get on the carpet.)

Just take the Cocomat out, turn it over, spank it a couple of times, and the dirt falls out. Cocomat goes back in and the carpets stay clean.

I love my tacky Cocomats...and I love not having to shake out and clean the carpets.

You should probably have them custom made using square-weave material from GAHH. Otherwise you're stuck with either "coco-tacky" or plush-tacky.

Actually, the Coco-Mat folks also offer a sisal mat that ALMOST looks like square weave.  Tosh posted a picture on April 2008 in this topic:  http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=8176.15
