Electrical Connectors

[KUMARB]

A few of the electrical connectors on my 280SL are in the need of replacement. They have covers missing. They are four point and six point connectors. Where can I buy them?

The Technical manual says they are still available but the specific sources are not listed. A post in this Forum references to a source, but  they seem to carry only wiring harnesses sans connectors, and advise to use the old connectors.

Has anyone bought such connectors?

Kumar,
Try going to the junkyard to find another similiar vintage Mercedes sedan and cut out the connectors from that car.  They all share the same connectors.
Or I have a box full of wires, connectors and etc.

Some pix of connectors.

6 Pin Socket 006 545 8028 and Cover 009 545 3028 (available separately).

The 4 pin socket (Red 014 545 8528) has a cover which can be cut off and is very inexpensive.
There is a 4 pin bakelite (in black) socket kit available but costs a lot more # 000 545 3228.

Thanks, naj, for sending me the pictures. They cleared up a misconception I had.  I had assumed that if I ordered a 6 pin socket, the cover will come as part of it.

Actually, I only need covers. Some of the connectors in my car have their covers missing.

Hello, KumarB,

I would change the sockets at the same time, they are quite inexpensive.
The other day, I tried to fit a new cover to an old socket on the firewall on my freind's 250SL.
The  flange on the now well cooked and brittle socket promptly broke off.
