Ahhh...back home safe and sound...
« on: April 05, 2009, 22:14:48 »
Well, in what is perhaps the earliest "fetching" of my car from distant storage "up north", I brought her home today, 4/5.  Outrunning a winter storm WARNING (yes, a winter storm warning in SPRING.  Welcome to the Michigan...) to boot!

After 5 months of storage, she started up immediately (well, after 30 seconds of allowing pressure to build in the fuel system) albeit the starter sounded a tad sluggish.  I don't use a battery tender nor did I charge it this time prior to use.

Ran around 70-80MPH all the way home--155 miles.  Caught a bit of rain in the last 15 minutes, but not too bad.  They'll be 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow.

Hopefully I can get a jump on some long neglected projects (by subbing them out, I'm working on the book ;)) and have her tip top by summer.

Michigan and snow?

It was 70 degrees with bright sun in NY today...had Ole Beige out exploring the Big Apple.

Mike, you should have stayed in NY  :o)

You must store it at the Sulton's place in Brighton? 8)  He has a few hundred battery tenders, surely you could have borrowed one.

Richard, we had 70 degrees and sunny LAST MONTH here!  You never can tell when winter will finally end and summer begin.  Last month when it was sunny and beautiful, there were plenty of top-down drivers!  And, we had a lovely high-pressure day on Saturday, bright sun, a little cool at 50, but very hot at the Final Four in downtown where MSU gave Michigan its only bright spot of news in years...

As I walked out to the mailbox this morning in 2" of slush, I noticed that my road was freshly salted.  Think I'm stuck for a while. :(  But hey, heading to Southern California on Wednesday!

Michael:

Sorry to say but sports car land is in California. You know I have not spotted another Pagoda in Long Beach. Even when my open top rides down the coast I do not think people know what to think of this car. On one of my rides I stopped at the Tastee Freeze for a root beer float and parked at the curb. All the parking was taken and I had not planned to be there long. A nice lady commented on what kind of car it  was. She was concerned about its safety being parked at the curb, but assured me it would be OK.

I saw two open top Porsche's with suff boards sticking up. I am sure they impressed the Young Girls more than my civilized Mercedes SL.

All my Pagoda friends  are back east. I could cry.

I retrieved my 280 from it's winter quarters on a beautful spring day last week here in the great white north....only to be held hostage by a few days of rain and wet snow.
The weekend looks good...let the season begin!
