Mystery distributor
« on: May 31, 2009, 20:19:38 »
I have a distributor that reportedly came off a Mercedes 130 engine.  The numbers on the side are as follows-  0231 185 010 and underneath JPU6.  There is no Bosch tag.  It appears to be in good condition.  Any ideas of what it is and value?  Cheers Jim

Hello, Jim,

This distributor supercedes the two aluminum bodied distributors (062 and 067) fitted to US spec M 130 98x engines during 1970/71 with emission control gear.

Hello, Jim,

It would fit the 70/71 280 SLs. The advance and vacuum curves are different from the earlier 051 cast iron distributors.

Bob Possell would probably have been interested when he was struggling with the 009 distributor but the has now changed to the 123 fully electronic.

Probably someone else on the site with a late 280 SL with distributor issues....
