David,
Some purist specialists may say that the steering wheel comes from either 250 or 280 type, and that the hubcaps are not as they should be for a 230 (they should have the same color as the body), but the car looks terrific.
Before buying, take advantage of the advices on this website (there is a page with a kind of checklist for potential buyers elsewhere on this website).
Just in case, as there were changes already made to your target, it may be worth checking if other parts are original, such as the engine (sometimes they were taken from a SE). Nothing wrong for a keen buyer, but it that should somewhat affect the price...

have fun

This is not entirely accurate if the Hardtop color is Black.

I might add that the underneath of the car looks a lot like it's been just recently spray painted black, not sure what someone may have been trying to hide or cosmetically match.

The car looks great though... may we ask how much are you thinking of paying for it?

Good luck!

I believe the wheels are correct. The early wheels can have that funky two-tone color scheme where the wheels are the same color as the body and the hubcaps match the hardtop (if there is a hardtop).

To address your question, it's hard to say whether this is a good candidate. The pix just aren't large enough to see the details.

I'll say this though — I like early 230SLs because of all the unique details. Does the soft top have the transverse chrome bar nailed into the wooden bow above the rear window? Also, does the owner know what happened to the original steering wheel? Do you know the VIN? I wonder how early this one is.

Many thanks to all the replies.

The car has been presented to me as a restoration that was done in the 80's. Guess we all remember disco!

The car has over 20k in shop  tickets from then.

The paint is older and looks like a wet sand could make right accorsing to the owner.

The asking price is 20k.

Keep in mind that i have not seen the car in person, but will certianly do a PPI before i lay down any cash.

I know old Euro cars, mostly Alfas and Mercedes, but never a 113 car.

Please keep on posting all this great feedback.

Best, David

Huh? ???
May I ask what is wrong with this steering wheel? Surely, it should have a white (ivory colored) horn pad but other than that, it's clearly a 230-early 250 ordinary fintail steering wheel - or with other words: absolutely correct!
Please look at the horn ring ... see? ;)

David,
On the first glance in combination with the small pics the car looks good. To me well worth for a real visit.
Vinyl seems to be original (deep dark grey (kaviar) instead of replacement-black; that's correct for the 230SL.
Even more: the original two-tone black and grey square weave carpet _and_ rubber mats are in place - good indication for a well-kept mostly original car.

Good luck and keep us informed
