Center dash trim above tunnel - tips??

Hello,

I need to remove the center dash trim above the tunnel to take a look at my heater fan.  Are there any tricks or tips to getting it out without tearing the board apart??  It seems pretty firmly wedged in there, as well as being old and brittle......
