New Wheels...
« on: October 21, 2009, 19:55:58 »
One our local MBCA club members here has a nice 250C.  The 250C, I believe (vintage 1970 or so) had the same 185-14 tires on 6" rims as our cars came with.

This fellow bought a set of early 1990's AMG rims in the 16x6.5" size, fitted them with 205/55-16 tires.  These measured about the same circumference as my 185's.  He also checked to see if his speedo was off, and he said it was right on by GPS.  I think this might be the size on the 190E.

So, this might be an option for those who want a more modern wheel and tire.  This wheel set was a bit earlier that Jim Villers CLK so I don't know if there was a difference.

Mike thanks for posting this info but the 15" bundt wheels will also work nicely fitted with 205/65/15 tire.  Lots to choose from in this size of tire.  My only problem is that I like the hubcap look and want to stay away from a heavy steel 15x6 wheel.

Obviously if you are a wheel-cover kind of guy (as I am, BTW) then neither this option or bundts will work for you.  But as tires get bigger, (16, 17, etc.) this is an option for some.  Added a custom look to the 250C.

What you need Hauser are the pressed aluminum wheels, if you don't already have them.  They are probably even lighter than the bundts.

Got-em in 14" but would love a set of aluminum disks in 15".  Not sure if such a thing even exists.

Pics of the 250C with the wheels, perchance?
