Rubber intermediate mounting

Hello.
In my search to where that deep vibrating sound come from i checked my flexdisk today.
There are a few tiny cracks in it so it should be replaced, no doubt.
But i don't think it's the cause of the sound.
The rubber donut (the intermediate rubber mounting) is kind of soft.
If i push the shaft up and down at that point it goes up and down for about 6mm.
My question, is it normal that i can push it up and down that much?
If so, i have to search further.
Anyhow, the donut will be replaced also when i do the flexdisk.

Thx, i will.
My thoughts are that the rubber mounting is there to eliminate vibration, but when it's to soft or worn it will allow the shaft to virbrate more.
I don't know how hard a new mountingrubber is.
I will post my experience here.

have you checked the universal joint on the rear of the drive shaft?

No, unfortunately i did not.
Stupid from me to forget to check it.
I have made some pictures from it, but that shall not clear things up.
What i do see on the picture is that the oil seal from the dif needs to be replaced.

I had a similar noise that was in my car, after looking every where, it turned out to be a defective rear tire! worth looking.

I have plans to re-balance the wheels soon.
Should something be wrong with the rims and/or tyres it will be noticed than.

My vibrating, humming noise was solved after I replaced the top differential mount accessible through the luggage compartment.
Just my five cents worth....

Check those motor mounts also.  If they looked collapsed or the centers are punched through you will get metal to metal contact and all kinds of strange vibrations.
