Torque settings
« on: November 08, 2009, 11:03:15 »
Can someone please inform me what the torque settings are for the following-
1- The rear axle crown wheel to carrier.
2- The LH axle caseing to centre section(the part that holds thecrown wheel and pinion).
I have read conflicting info:on this point, with regard to the large bolt at the front of the crankshaft, which way should the washers fit, face to face or opposed?

I believe there was some confusion on the 230 SLs where there was a mod from a short bolt and one washer to a longer bolt and three washers.

On a 280, all the crowns of the washers should face the bolt head.
