Author Topic: cluster wiring 1979 sl "multiwire connector" 12 wires in place  (Read 5083 times)

Can Anybody help me? I had the "grey market" cluster on my 1979 sl and I am in USA so it was hard to keep up the speed limits in kilometers.
finally i found the cluster for my car with miles on it, I was happy, disconnected original one and connected the mileage one, everything should work, but my "multiconnector" to the cluster slipped out and the pins diconnected from the plastic, I thought I put it in correctly in order, but I have some doubts about it, it goes like clock 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 all around on the plastic part, I am not sure I put it back the way it should be in, what if I switch the places, what would happen?
Please help, any wiring tips, any pictures, I am lost.

Hi everyone!
I need help, I removed my old cluster and put another one but in the process i accidentally popped the pins out of the connector, I know it was stupid, but I need help, like picture or other info what goes where? it has 12 holes and I think 11 pins and I don't know if I connected it correctly, maybe i switched the places of the pins and now I am scared, please help, any wiring instructions?
 :'(

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that was a typo and you have a 69 w113 280sl

i would reccoment taking the back cover off the female 12 plug connectior and compare the colors of the harness wires to the colors of the wires coming out of the center cluster.

BTW there is no pig tail lead coming out of a R107 cluster, there is a round female harness connector that plugs directly into the circuit board on the back of the cluster.
