Rebuilt mine in September, marked and measured before dismantling. (as a rough idea) After reinstalling rebuilt box I felt it still had excessive play, corrected this by turning the adjusting screw anti-clockwise (under accorn nut and lock nut). This applies more tension on the pressure spring and sleeve assembly, which in turn pushes the ball pin further into the ball socket (in power piston), thereby reducing play in the box. Too much tension will result in binding so careful here. Remember play in the steering system is also a function of the condition of your other components tie rods, drag links, intermediate arm bushings etc, so excessive play in the steering system cannot all be removed by adjusting the "magic screw" on the steering box.
