2011 E-Class Cabrio Revealed Monday 1/11 in Detroit
« on: January 13, 2010, 23:04:20 »
MB revealed the new 2011 E-Class Cabriolet on Monday.  "4 people, 4 seasons".  Beautiful.  Some nifty new features such as the Aircap®.  Aircap is an intelligent system that reduces interior turbulence, employing an active airflow diverter that sits atop the windscreen.  When in use, it channels airflow over the car’s interior.  The Aircap works with another feature, a more traditional but smaller mesh windscreen between the rear seat headrests.  Combine those new features with the Airscarf (warm air vents around your neck); and the windproof acoustic soft top and you find the car will live up to its design mantra of “four seasons, four people”.  With interior turbulence at a minimum, the Airscarf employed and MB climate control, top-down motoring in the winter is possible!

No price revealed but expect a minimum $10K premium over the sedan version--just a guess.  It was nice to see the car revealed an a "non-traditional" color.  Maybe finally, they are getting away from black, white and silver?  This was a gorgeous blue.  I took these photos the other day.

That's simply a stunning car...

I must admit that the new shape E-Class has sort of grown on me, especially after seeing it in the flesh.

Yes, let's see...when we trick out an E550, add the Cabrio version, we are pushing six figures...maybe not quite there yet, but close...(that means close to USD $100,000)...

Goodness I have to find a job! >:(

Great to see that Mercedes finally presents something that points forwards in terms of design rather than going down the safe (read: boring) route that they have done previously. I would't mind having one of these in my drive - right next to my w113 :-)

Here in Denmark it will be around 300.000 USD due to 25% VAT and 180% registration tax :-(
