Plating Vendors
« on: January 17, 2010, 20:50:18 »
Hi All,

Can anyone who has had chrome plating and cad plating done in the last 6-12 months recommend a good plater at a reasonable cost?  I contacted Graves who seem to get good reviews from some folks here but they never responded so I'm not sure if they are too busy or have some other issues.

When you do a google search there are a lot of guys out there doing plating but I know there is a big difference in price and quality out there.

Any first hand info is appreciated!

Put in a call and ask for Mr Graves.  Once you get him on the phone he can quote you on the various pieces you want done.  They only do show quality and that's all they do according to Graves.

For Chrome:
Royal Silver MFG, Co., Inc
3300 Chesapeake Blvd.
Norflok, Virginia 23513
757-855-6004
ask for P. M. King, manager

Note:  I have had work done there and their chrome process is really great.  They do a lot of chroming for hot rodders all over the country.

For yellow cad plating:
Advanced Finishing Systems
2954 George Washington Memorial Hwy (Rt.17)
P.O. Box 1172
Hayes, Virginia 23072
ask for Melinda Allmon, and tell I sent you.

Note:  Had all my plating done there when restoring my W113.  They did a great job at a small cost.  Two other W113 M130 engines have had their plating done there.

If you have any questions just contact me.

A very good chrome plater in the Pacific Northwest is Queen City Plating:

Queen City Plating
11914 Cyrus Way
Mukilteo, WA 98275-5408
(425) 315-1992
www.queencityplating.com

I restored a hardtop last year, including the chrome, and they did a great job for me.  They do work for a wide variety of customers, including chrome for very nice cars.  They do a great job, are known for their quality.  They aren't the least expensive, but the job will be done well.

I had my antique boat parts done at Queen City.  Outstanding work. They have done some top flight jobs. I was told they did a lot of the plating on the 747 that is Air Force One.
