de fender

I've just returned from NYC ( thank you Martha ) and saw a lot of these rubber protectors hanging out of cars.

De fender..bumper bully...bumper badger etc.

Does anyone have any experience of these, like are they heavy ? do they mark our style of trunk ? I know they are for the back but I saw enough hanging from the front too. It's the only thing I hate about using my car everyday in London is bumper bashing.

Your thoughts gentlemen please.

Personally, I think they look silly when you drive around with the things flapping out of your car. I might consider owning a set if I parked in downtown NY or London, but I would certainly not drive around with the things on the car.

are they on permanently ? I thought that they sat in the trunk and were pulled out when parked. Otherwise, I agree with you.

I see them all the time while commuting here in NY metro area- most people never take them off.
Its like plastic slip covers on the interior-  keeps the seats nice for the next owner.

It looks horrible like a car diaper and scratches on the bumper would be MUCH less obvious

Ok, well I wont waste my money. I am now living in Manhattan more than London and sort of am half wondering about bringing my car over, but the drivers in NYC are worst than London. I do fancy an old 70's or 80's column gear job too.

Thanks as ever for your thoughts.
