Watch! Pagoda Speedometer Design Watch
« on: April 13, 2010, 12:26:37 »
As seen in the "Automobilia" section of the May 2010 edition of "Classic & Sports Car" (UK, pg 61):  "Watchmaker Bavarian Crono has developed a new range of stylish mechanical timepieces modeled on the speedometers of landmark classic cars."  Among them is a tribute to the Pagoda SL speedometer for $490 Euros.  See:  www.bavarian-crono.de  (No connection to the maker or advertiser, just passing along the info!)  Take a look at the Pagoda grill in the web-page advert - the grill star has been blacked out, probably some copyright issue!

Very nice.

Looks like owners of US version cars with mile speedos will have to wear the kilo dial.

I have the KM speedo, I just don't have 500 Euros for a watch in my budget.

how do I fine a picture of the Pagoda Designed watch, what is the price ? does it come with a leather band or a metal band? Since I do not have a good watch anymore I would like this and feel it may attract some attention like Michael PUB shirts I were to formal meeting and car show. What a perfect match .

Please advise , I have not been participating on this website do to trying to get the technical aspects of my business off the ground.

Sincerely

I remember that Al Lieffring told me once that you can order these watches with anything that you want on them for $6 each from China but you need to order at least 1000 of them. Plus they have about a 3-5% failure rate.
Perhaps Al can elaborate more on this.

The odometer figures are fixed values on these watches representing the body code and first year of production. The trip value for the Pagoda watch is "113" and the main value is "1963." They don't seem to have MPH faces for the Mercedes-Benz watches, although if you troll through the whole site you will find there are both KPH and MPH versions of their 1960 VW Beetle speedometer watch...  The piston containers are interesting and just about as expensive as a real piston for one of our engines!

It would be interesting to see if they might entertain a group buy if there is enough interest. Maybe one of our German speaking or European members might contact them about this?

At $6 for a 1000 you only need at least 12 takers for it to become cheaper than a Bavarian watch. I doubt the movement would be the same though...
