Thanks! Yes it is black. Original was red. Carpets is now red 403.

I bought the car like this, privately updated. Have replaced the gearbox last year due to a slipping 4th gear, and some other minor things.

Yes, very sharp looking car.  I notice you have a passenger side outside mirror.  Do you know if it was an original option with the car or was it added on at a later date?  I've been thinking about adding a passenger mirror for safety reasons.  Has anyone else done this?

I do not know. Have been trying to track the history, but it stops. Imported to Norway in -78, probably from Netherlands. I can see from the pictures of it when it was red that the mirror was there. beleve it was a must in Norway in -78.

Handsome car in black.  Enjoy.  You might look into the original wheel with two piece hubcap and trim ring.

Hi Jordan -

On the passenger side mirror, I have one - added it back on.  It was on the original vehicle and it showed on the data card, but it was lost it in it's history, so I added it back on - found the holes.

There's a post that discusses this somewhere, but the caution is that if you put it in the same position as the drivers side - you may have trouble seeing the passenger side mirror.  It's partly a function of how tall you are, and the resulting line of sight.   I placed mine back in the original spot, which is the same distance as the drivers side...and honestly, I have to strain my neck to see/use it.

....but it does look cool with two mirrors, and it is original!   8)

Stunning car Karl...
Just love the black colour.

Jordan,

My car was delivered to the first owner in Germany without the passenger side mirror. Some time after she was imported to South Africa in 1968 a passenger mirror was fitted.

Although not original as per the datacard, I like the symmetry it gives to her appearance.

Whether you can see properly with that mirror is another matter all together...

Absolutely Beautiful! There is something about black color, chrome and the rear red tail lights that fits just perfect. Weldon!

I have been driving motorbikes and cars in this area for 40 years, so i know where to go  ;D. Every time I get more impressed of how much I can push this old SL, both in curves and accelleration.
