transmission linkage early 230SL with 4 speed

'I am putting the car back together after changing the clutch and repairing the transmission. The 2 small linkages are both bent. The driver side if you hild the transmission end on a bench the shifter end will be 1-3/4 inches above the bench. The other one bends up about 1-1/2 am  I learned from tomHanson the inkasge was different for the first 1400 serial numbners and is no longer available, Shuold I ise the bent roofs?, SHiuld I try to malke larter  model linkGAGES work or should   .ty to bend these straight

I also have an early 230sl and broke one of the treaded posts.  I found out the hard way that this linkage was different from the later models.  If you can get someone to loan you one rod they can be made up from a later rod in a machine shop fairly easy.
