Ignition Key Help
« on: May 12, 2010, 05:57:33 »
Lost my one ignition key (don't Ask) :-\   The key did not work in the doors.  I guess it's time to get a whole new set.  What do I need to do.

Thanks

Get your data card with the key numbers.

I replaced the original ignition some years ago, so the data card is of no help.

I got two spares at just under £20 each from the dealer.

There is a code number stamped on the lock housing. You would have to remove the lock from the column to see it.
May be a locksmith could find a key code by using that number.
a 230sl has a different key for the ingniton than the doors and third for the glove box and trunk lid.
